발음법츼 Rules of Pronunciation

Writing and pronunciation in Korean language is different, therefore we must first learn the rules of pronunciation.

1.  Final Consonant.

Pronunciation of final consonant sounds to change.

Example : , sound turn into K

부엌 (bu eok)

,,,,,, sound turn into T

닫다 (dat da) (ot)

, sound turn into B

갚다 (gab da)
  • Other final consonant than final consonant above, the pronunciation same as original pronunciation.
2. If final consonant followed by’ then pronunciation of final consonant to replace ‘’.

Example : 믿음 = [ ]     ,  가람미 = [ ]
                      [ mi deum ]                       [ sa ra mi ]

3. If final consonant,’ followed by a consonant ‘’ or ‘’ then pronunciation of final consonant turn into ‘’.

Example : 앞니  =  [ 암니  ,    밥물  =  [ 밤울 ]
                               [ am ni ]                       [ bam mul ]

o If final consonant ’,’’ followed by a consonant ‘’ or ‘’ then pronunciation of final consonant turn into ‘’.

Example : 낱말  =  [ 난말 ]
                        [  nan mal ]

o If final consonant ’,’’ followed by a consonant ‘’ or ‘’ then pronunciation of final consonant turn into ‘’.

Example : 학년  =  [ 항년 ]
                               [ hang nyeon ]

4. If final consonant ,, ‘ followed by a consonant ‘,,,, ‘ then pronunciation of consonant ‘ , , , , ‘ turn into ‘,,,,‘.

Example : 학생  =  [  학쌩 ]
                                [ hak sseng ]

5. If final consonant , ‘ followed by a consonant ‘’ then pronunciation ‘’ turn into ‘’.

Example : 갈이  =  [ 가치 ]
                                [ ga chi ]

6. If final consonant ‘ followed by a consonant ‘‘ then pronunciation of final consonant turn into ‘’.

Example : 신라  =  [ 실라 ]
                        [ sil ra ]
